Facing the Eglise Saint-Gervais on one side and the Hôtel de Ville de Paris on the other, this 95 sqm apartment occupies the whole of the the two top floors of an 18th century building. The project comprised a full restructuration of the existing space and the conception of some design elements.
The first floor, formerly consisting of a long corridor and four rooms has been largely cut open. Thus, the entrance, the living room and the kitchen form one single continuity. The guest space (a bedroom and a bathroom) has been built on the same floor. A steel staircase links the living room to the owner’sv private space underneath the roof.

An apartment on the second floor of a typical sixties apartment block, alongside the “Leie” river in the historical centre of Ghent (B). Demolition of typical division in small rooms in order to create a wide space for living. Combination of sixties elements (materials and colours) and current needs. The seating, dining and cooking area are organized into one fluent space in which curved walls guide and define these zones. Looking from the seating area, the kitchen feels like a sculpture. This living area continues in the master bedroom with adjacent semi-open bathing area. The apartment has a total length of +/- 21 m back to front.
From the one end in the master bedroom the view is directed towards the windows in the front façade looking over the river. The linear ceiling lights guide this spatial sequence and create a totally different atmosphere at night. The main living and sleeping area bask in a white colour palette. Mirrors on the wall of cupboards widen the space. The other spaces (shower room, spare room, entrance with cloakroom) are painted in soft colours (blue, pink, yellow), contrasting with custom designed furniture in dark oiled oak. The wall colours are repeated in these cupboard interiors. The insides are dark blue, pale blue, old pink or dark yellow.

New Luxury Seaside Villa
Completed recently by the interior designer Julia Palmer, this magnificent 530 square meter structure overlooks the Mallorca oceanside with casual grace and comfortable simplicity. Designed softly to accent the minimal color from the choices in incorporated artwork and furniture, the Villa easily walks a fine line between a comfortable, elegant family living space and structural accent specific to Mediterranean-designed homes. Calming and graceful, light moves organically through the building from the south side of the structure, but the allowance of architecture fixtures, the rearrangement of of windows and use of soft colors and reflective walls keep the light intensity from being overpowering and, in fact, can also contribute to an efficient use of energy.

Before you start considering spending your hard earned money on decorators and inland designers maybe you should consider carrying out the work yourself.
You will find it fun and exhilarating , watch your home come alive with your designs and ideas.
